This week I tried building some small habits around tools and routines. Overall phase was good.

I’ve started using two apps regularly: NetNewsWire and Obsidian.

  • I’ve always had Apple Notes, but couldn't maintain them well. Obsidian caught my attention because of its graph view and markdown format. It is easier for me now.
  • The best part about NetNewsWire is that it syncs between Mac and iPhone without having to do much and is free. I have mindfully categorised very few of the blogs I read on regular basis, but still a long way to go. I will do it slow.

Work has been good, and I managed to stay more focused this week. I want to restart my work logs and circulate to my team on regular basis. It helps keep things healthy and transparent.

I do not 'stay' motivated unless I’m working on something of(/for) my own. So I gave my blog another retouch with pagination in the APIs, font cleanup, CI-CD deployments, push notifications and caching. It was fun and very easy with Claude code.

Coding is becoming like the next photography. There was a time when photography required technical knowledge, expensive equipment, and a lot of practice (it still does for some professional works). However, today, on a large scale, anyone can pick up a phone, tap a button to capture a great shot with ease. Coding seems to be moving in a similar direction. You don’t need to memorise syntax or spend years mastering every little detail to build something functional unless you want to become a professional. What once felt like a skill reserved for specialists is slowly becoming something anyone can try with the help of AI(/vibe coding). We have always been moving in that direction and this is going to be inevitable.

On some mornings this week, I woke up early consistently, read articles, blogs that I want to read in bed and turned into a human push-notification for my friends. I am loving those starts, because once the day begins, my reading spree goes off.

Finance has never been my strong suit. But Hemanth gave me a mini KT on the stock market yesterday, and it was surprisingly interesting especially to learn about Candle stick patterns. I learned the basics and even tried to build a small tool around it. Will see how this week goes and maybe write more about it later.

It’s been a while since I last followed any news. These days, I only catch glimpses through tweets or videos here and there, for my own sanity, to cut down the noise.

Even so, I believe it’s important to call out the authoritarian movements and not let harmful narratives go unchecked especially with whats happening around. That’s why I’ve been exploring data-driven alternatives to news. It’s still in the ideation phase for months, and I’m taking it slow.

A few close to me are going through a rough phase and I quietly wish for them to ease.
